More Rain-wind/Thundershower predicted in the country during the week.
(Monsoon likely to remain very active during the week).

Met Office informed that strong monsoon weather system giving rains in the country is likely to persist during the week. Under the influence of this weather system

  • Rain-wind-thundershower (with few heavy to very heavy falls) is expected in Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar and Layyah, Dir, Swat, Buner, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Waziristan, Kurrum, Bannu, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan, Gilgit-Baltistan (Ghizer, Astore, Diamer, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza Nagar, Ghanche and Kharmang) from Monday to Thursday.
  • Rain/wind-thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdallah, Kohlu, Loralai, Barkhan, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kech, Panjgur, Mastung, Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Harnai, Sukkar, Jaccobabad, Larkana, Khairpur, Tharparker, Sanghar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad and Karachi from Monday to Friday.

Possible Impacts:

  • Heavy rain may generate flash flooding in Local/Barsati Nullahs of Sialkot, Narowal, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, Balochistan, Shangla, Buner, Batgram, Upper Swat, Kohistan and Kashmir from Monday to Wednesday
  • Urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Peshawar and Faisalabad, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin during the period.
  • Heavy rains may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa from Monday to Wednesday
  • Possibility of damaging effects due to wind-storm along the western boarder of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa.
  • Water level rise in the major rivers and improvement in water reservoirs.

Rain-wind/Thundershower predicted in upper & central parts from weekend
(Monsoon likely to remain in active phase during the next week).

Met Office informed that strong monsoon currents are likely to penetrate northeastern parts of the country from weekend. Under the influence of this weather system:

  • Rain-wind-thundershower (with few heavy falls at time) is expected in Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar and Layyah from Saturday (evening/night) to Wednesday.
  • Rain-wind-thundershowers (with few heavy falls at time) is expected in Dir, Swat, Buner, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Waziristan, Kurrum, Bannu, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan, Gilgit-Baltistan (Ghizer, Astore, Diamer, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza Nagar, Ghanche and Kharmang) from Sunday (evening/night) to Wednesday.
  • Rain/wind-thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, Sibbi, Kohlu, Loralai, Barkhan, Sukkar, Jaccobabad, Tharparker, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas from Monday (evening/night) to Wednesday

Possible Impacts:

  • Heavy rains may generate flash flooding and may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa from Monday to Wednesday.
  • Urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Peshawar and Faisalabad on Monday & Tuesday.
  • Possibility of damaging effects due to wind-storm during the forecast period.
  • Prevailing water stress in rainfed areas likely to subside and improvement in water reservoirs during the period.
  • Prevailing hot & humid weather conditions likely to subside during the wet spell.

All concerned authorities are advised to remain “ALERT” during the forecast period.

Rain-wind/Thunderstorm predicted in upper/central parts during next 02-03 days.

Met Office informed that weak moist currents from Arabian sea are penetrating central and upper parts of the country and likely to continue during next 02-03 days. Under the influence of this weather system:

  • Rain-wind-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Sargodha from Thursday (night) to Sunday particularly during evening/night and morning hours.
  • Rain-dust-thunderstorm is also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Khanpur, Rajanpur, Kalat, Barkhan, Loralai and Sibbi on Saturday and Sunday during evening/night.

  • Prevailing hot weather condition likely to subside.

Rain-Wind/Storm in Sindh during 16-19 June 2021

PMD spokesman informed that the moist currents from the North Arabian Sea are likely to penetrate in Sindh with effect from 16th June 2021. Under its influence the first rainy spell expected in most of Sindh Districts as follows:

  • Dust/thunderstorm-rain at scattered places in Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad & Ghotki districts on 16-17 June 2021.
  • Dust/thunderstorm-rain with few moderate/heavy falls (especially in Dadu, Sukkur and Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Hyderabad Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Thar, Badin and Thatta districts) in all districts of Sindh during 17-19 June. Karachi may also receive moderate dust/thunderstorm-rain on 18-19 June

Impacts:

  • Hot spell in central and upper Sindh would subside.
  • Loose structured huts & billboards may experience damage due to dust/wind-storm.
  • Low lying areas in Badin, Thatta, Hyderabad, Umarkot, Thar, Dadu, Sukkur and Larkana districts may face water logging/inundation at times due to occasional heavy showers.

    Met Office informed that moist currents from the Arabian Sea are likely to penetrate in eastern parts of the Country from Friday (evening/night). Under the influence of this weather system:

    • Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with few moderate to isolated heavy falls) is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (Astore, Kharmang, Ghanche and Shigar), Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mardan, Buner, Dir, Shangla and Kohistan from Friday (evening/night) to Monday.
    • Rain-wind/thunderstorm in Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Khushab, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Barkhan, Musa Khel and Zhob during Saturday (evening/night) to Sunday.

    Impacts:

    • Prevailing very hot weather conditions are likely to subside during the wet-spell.
    • Wind thunderstorm with heavy falls at times may generate urban flooding in low-lying areas of Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhelum and Rawalpindi on Saturday/Sunday.

    Met Office informed that present westerly weather system is likely to persist for next (04-05) days. Under the influence of this weather system:

    • Rain-wind/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls (a few Hailstorm) is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Bannu, Peshawar, Mardan, Kurram, Waziristan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh till Sunday with occasional gaps.
    • Rain-wind/dust thunderstorm is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan on Saturday/ Sunday.
    • Rain- wind/ dust thunderstorm is also expected in Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi, Kohlu, Ziarat, Harnai, Chaman, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Hyderabad, Larkana and Jaccobabad on Saturday and Sunday.

    • Rain-wind/thunderstorm (a few Hailstorm) is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Bannu, Peshawar, Kurram, Waziristan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal from Sunday (night) to Wednesday.

    First Heat Wave of the Season likely during the week.

    Met office has informed that mainly hot and dry weather is expected during the week due to which heat wave conditions are likely in most plain areas of the country.

    • Sindh, Southern Punjab, Eastern & Southern Balochistan will remain in the grip of very hot and dry weather from Tuesday to Saturday. Temperatures are also likely to rise in most sub mountainous areas of the country.
    • Dust raising winds are expected in Sindh and Balochistan during the period.
    • Day temperatures are expected to be remain above normal (04-06°C) in most plain areas.

    • Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with few moderate to heavy falls) is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Peshawar, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, D.G.     • Isolated rain-thunderstorm is also expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Islamabad, Potohar region, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Narowal, Lahore and Kasur on Wednesday.
    • Heavy rain fall may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during Monday and Tuesday.

    Note:

    Rain thunderstorm is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Lahore, Gilgit and Muzaffarabad on 23rd March during the morning hours.
