Synoptic Situation

A shallow westerly wave is currently prevailing over western/upper parts of the country and moving north-eastwards.

Thursday

Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. while very cold conditions in hilly areas. However, partly cloudy to cloudy weather is likely over Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab and Northern Balochistan. Smog is likely to persist over the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while fog may develop at a few places.

Friday

Mainly cold and partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions are expected in most parts of the country. while very cold hilly areas during morning/night hours. However, light rain/light snowfall at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram). Smog is likely to persist over the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while fog may develop at a few places during morning and night hours.
