Warning

• Heavy rain/snowfall may cause road closure/ slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galliyat, Neelum valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli and Rawalakot during tonight & 23rd January.
• Heavy rain/snowfall may cause flash flooding in local nullah/streams of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while possibility of the landslides/avalanche in hilly areas during the period.
• Tourists are advised to remain extra cautious and avoid unnecessary travelling during the forecast period.

Synoptic Situation

A strong westerly wave is affecting most parts of the country and likely to persist in the upper parts of the country till tomorrow.

Thursday

Widespread intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorm (with snowfall over hills) is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, upper/central Punjab. Moderate to heavy rain/snow may also occur in upper parts. Rain wind-thunderstorm is also likely at isolated places in south Punjab, Sindh and north/northeastern Balochistan.

Friday

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with snowfall over hills) is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad and upper Punjab. Moderate to heavy rain/snow may also occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab and Kashmir. Cold and dry weather is likely in other parts of the country.
