More Pre-Monsoon Rain-Thundershowers predicted from 15th June (Wednesday) evening/night

Met Office informed that moist currents from Arabian Sea are likely to penetrate in upper parts of the country from 15th June (evening/night). Under the influence of this weather system the following weather is expected:

Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan: Rain-wind/thundershowers (with few heavy falls) are expected in Bhimber, Kotli, Mirpur, Poonch, Bagh, Haveli, Hattian, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and Gilgit Baltistan (Astore, Ghizer, Gilgit, Diamir, Hunza and Skardu) from 15th (evening/night) to 23rd June.

Punjab/Islamabad: Rain-wind/thundershowers are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Hafizabad, M. B Din, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, T.T Singh from 16th to 21st June, while in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Kot Adu, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Khanpur and Rahimyar Khan from 17th to 20th June with occasional gaps. Heavy falls are expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur and Sheikhupura on 16th (evening/night) and 17th June that may generate urban flooding in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain-wind/thundershowers (with isolated heavy falls) are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Kohat, Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan from 15th (evening/night) to 22nd June with occasional gaps.

Balochistan: Rain-wind/thundershowers (with isolated heavy falls) are expected in Sibbi, Bolan, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Mastung, Barkhan, Ziarat, Zhob, Quetta, Kalat, Khuzdar, Chaman and Harnai from 17th June (evening/night) to 20th June.

Sindh: Hot and dry weather in most parts of the province with chances of dust-thunderstorm/rain in Sukkur, Jacobabad and Larkana from 17th (evening/night) to 19th June.

Possible Impacts:

  • Heat wave conditions are likely to subside.
  • Water availability may improve for crops, vegetables and orchards.
  • Wind/dust-thunderstorm may cause damages to loose structures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad/Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during the forecast period.
  • Heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and may generate flash flooding in eastern parts of Balochistan (Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi, Harnai, Sibbi and Bolan).
